OCN Accreditation

MutualGain is pleased to unveil our new bespoke qualification: Building Social Capital through Community Engagement.

Our qualification is accredited by the Open College Network London, assuring learners of a high quality experience.

As resources reduce and demand increases it is important that everyone understands how to engage effectively. It is good for our democracy to increase civic participation and develop higher levels of social capital: it keeps us safer; improves our health and well being, develops our connectivity, and increases social responsibility. Our programme was jointly evaluated by Durham University and Durham Constabulary – click here to read a summary of their research: MutualGain in Durham – Précis of independent evaluation.

If you want your learning to be accredited, you are able to choose whether this is at level 3 or level 4 (level 4 is equivalent to passing the first year of an undergraduate degree). If you would like to achieve the accreditation you will have to complete a range of training modules and reflective learning assignments over the course of 12 months. You can achieve this through a blend of on and off line teaching and learning experiences: See more about online learning.

For more information contact us here: info@mutualgain.org.

If you don’t want to be accredited, and just want to enjoy the learning experience you can complete the programme on or off line, and have a whole lotta fun reaping the rewards from your new practice! If you are unable to commit to a full programme of learning, we have shorter offers that may be more suitable to the needs of your local place or your organisation.

MutualGain has worked with a national awarding body OCN London to create an approved national qualification that assesses and accredits the learning gained through our training courses and participants own reflection on their practice.  We see this as offering real added value to our training offer, giving participants the opportunity to receive formal recognition of the skills and understanding developed via our training, and providing external validation of the quality and currency of what we offer.

The learning and assessment for the units can also mostly be undertaken via both our face to face training and MutualiLearn platform. We’ve worked hard with OCN London to make sure that as far as possible the assessment evidence can be completed by participants through activities that would be undertaken as part of the training, so keeping additional work to a minimum.

Accredited by Ofqual (the government’s qualification regulator) the qualification is approved for use from 1st December 2016.

The full qualification guide can be viewed on the OCN Website.
