Blaenau Gwent PB Planning Group Invitation

Participatory Budgeting – helping Blaenau Gwent recover from Covid-19!

Blaenau Gwent Public Services Board partners have commissioned MutualGain to help establish a Participatory Budgeting (PB) programme focused on supporting the Blaenau Gwent community to recover from the COVID 19 pandemic.

PB is a simple process that works with partners and a residents’ group to enable local projects and programme to bid for funding for ideas that will help the community emerge from the pandemic.

MutualGain has a great deal of experience in delivering PB projects across the country, most recently in the Newport area

So, if you live in the Blaenau Gwent area, and would like to play a part in shaping this opportunity of helping the community recover from COVID, then please come along to our information sessions.   We are looking for 20 to 30 residents to sign-up to be a part of the planning group, making key decisions in relation to the PB process.

Members of the group will be given training and take part in a series of supported delivery sessions to shape the programme, invite bidders to apply for funding, judge whether applications fit the set criteria, and plan the decision day where the wider community will be invited to vote.

In order to provide some detail as to what this entails, we are holding two x one-hour information sessions.  You can use the link below to sign up for one or both of these sessions.

We will be holding information sessions on Tuesday 11th May from 6.30 PM, Thursday 13th May from 4 PM and Wednesday 19th May at 6 PM.  If you would like to attend an information session before committing to being a member of the planning group, please register and click the “I would like to attend the information session” box.

If you would like to learn a little more about the PB process in general or the roles and responsibilities of the planning group, you can look at our Participatory Budgeting FAQ document.
