Positive Deviance

Picture
MutualGain is one of the few UK providers of the internationally tried and tested model of Positive Deviance.  Susan was instrumental in bringing PD to the UK when she commissioned it on behalf of the Home Office to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls.

This approach was developed in response to the commonly known 'positive deviant' that often emerges through quantitative social research.  Instead of viewing these anomalies as 'deviants' from the norm which are unexplainable in survey terms, Jerry Sternin developed a new qualitative approach that tapped into the unknown successes of the few, and built the capacity of others to make it a norm rather than a deviant.

Positive Deviants work in your organisation and live in your community - we help you discover those people and build their capacity to create organisational or societal change.

We work closely with Woodward Lewis and the Positive Deviance Initiative to spread the practice throughout the UK.
